Every summer, 50 kids work together with professional directors, choreographers, and music directors to produce a full-scale musical in just three weeks. From auditions to opening night at the beautiful Historic Missouri Theatre, it’s an unforgettable ride.

Grab your cap and join the strike! This high-energy, feel-good musical tells the true story of the 1899 Newsboys Strike. Perfect for our spirited young performers.

How the Three Weeks Work
From first day jitters to standing ovation - here's the adventure.

Week 1 - Building the Show
Held at Wyatt Park Christian Church. Auditions, music rehearsals, dance, character development. Scripts in hands, friendships forming fast.
2
Week 2 - Rehearsals & Polish
Still at the church. Full run-throughs, set pieces start appearing, costumes arrive, energy is electric. Everyone knows their part!
3
Final Week + Shows — The Missouri Theatre
We move to the big stage! Load-in, tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals, then two incredible performances for family and friends. Pure magic.
Parent Night / Orientation is usually held in mid-to-late June. Jazz shoes and basic stage makeup are required (we’ll tell you the colors!).

A St. Joseph Tradition Since 1979
CAP was the very first youth theater program of its kind in the St. Joseph area. Our first production, “It’s A Hard Life,” took the stage in 1980.
Decades later we’re still here — creating the same joy, the same memories, and the same life-changing confidence for a new generation every summer.
